Norma Z. Weisfeld

February 1st, 2011

Native Milwaukeean Norma Weisfeld (nee Zeiger) of Delray Beach, Fla., died Dec. 23 of respiratory failure. She was 94.

Born in Milwaukee, she lived in Duluth, Minn., and Superior, before coming to Milwaukee as a teen in 1928. She graduated from high school and worked for Checker Express Co.

She married Samuel G. Weisfeld, M.D., in 1938. She worked for about 20 years as a bookkeeper for a department store.

She was a member of Congregation Shalom and was active in Women’s American ORT, serving as chapter treasurer.

She and her husband were ballroom dancers and bridge players, and she took up golf after they moved to Florida. After her husband died in 2000, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide in an elementary school.

She is survived by sons Glenn E. (Carol) Weisfeld of Detroit; Neil E. (Victoria) Weisfeld of Princeton, N.J.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Northshore Funeral Services handled the arrangements. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at the funeral on Dec. 28. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Women’s American ORT.
