Norma Z. Weisfeld February 1st, 2011 Native Milwaukeean Norma Weisfeld (nee Zeiger) of Delray
Beach, Fla., died Dec. 23 of respiratory failure. She was 94. Born in Milwaukee, she lived in Duluth, Minn., and
Superior, before coming to Milwaukee as a teen in 1928. She graduated from
high school and worked for Checker Express Co. She married Samuel G. Weisfeld, M.D., in 1938. She worked
for about 20 years as a bookkeeper for a department store. She was a member of Congregation Shalom and was active in
Women’s American ORT, serving as chapter treasurer. She and her husband were ballroom dancers and bridge
players, and she took up golf after they moved to Florida. After her husband
died in 2000, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide in an elementary school. She is survived by sons Glenn E. (Carol) Weisfeld of
Detroit; Neil E. (Victoria) Weisfeld of Princeton, N.J.; two granddaughters;
and two great-grandchildren. Northshore Funeral Services handled the arrangements.
Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at the funeral on Dec. 28. Burial was in
Spring Hill Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Women’s American ORT. |
